Daily Hugz

Tonight we got our first rescue at Daily Hugz. He's had a tough life and lost his eye, but he certainly hasn't lost his spirit.

I called him "Houdini" because no one has ever devised a knot or harness from which he couldn't escape. Here is his new $20 harness. I bought it only because the vet insisted  it was impossible to escape from.  Needless to say, he made pretty short work of it.  I put it on him and left him for 5 minutes.  I came back and there it was, on the ground.

Leading my lost, big-eared puppy, Houdini, back home after he ran away 3 times on the first day. I was getting pretty frustrated. Is there no knot known to mankind this puppy can't undo?

Had a breakthrough with Houdini today. He has been emotionally detached ever since we rescued him...all he wanted to do was eat and be left alone. I left him his space but was starting to think his abuse had been so bad maybe the best we can do for him was just give him food and medical care and just ensure he doesn't get abused any more. But today I went over to him and just stood still...and he came up to me and gave me a big hug.

Humans have abused Houdini his whole life, yet he is so forgiving.

Houdini's new life. Just a few weeks ago he was beaten every day and had to carry heavy loads on his severely strained back, not to mention someone literally poked his eye out. People say I spoil him. After what he's been through I can't spoil him enough.
